The first time I heard of Nelson Mandela was in 1990
when he was being released. I was in grade 8 at the time working at a pizza
parlour, quite curious about the new superstar who came out of nowhere. Of
course I quickly learned who he was! A lot of good things came to South Africa
because of the actions of this man. RIP!

About Riaan
South African artist Riaan van der Merwe was born in
Germiston next to Johannesburg in 1976.
He showed an aptitude for art at a young age and was
mentored by his artist grandmother, Ellen Botha.
He is currently a successful artist living in Pretoria,
South Africa and mainly makes a living out of exporting his paintings.
Some of his paintings are currently residing in the Coert
Steinberg Museum in Pretoria and he exhibits at art galleries across South
Africa.
