Nelson Mandela

Description:

8x10  acrylic on canvas

How many people do you know or heard of after spend about 30 years in prison, assume leadership of a mass movement. Then jointly receive a noble prize. After that vote the first time in a democratic election where he was elected president. All of this while he was in his 70's. He got remarried on his 80th birthday. And I thought life was suppose to be down hill after I turn 30 LOL. His example show us to keep moving forward and progressing no matter the circumstance.

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall"

In this video, published on 9 Feb 2013 we learn 4 tip on glazing acrylic paint. These are 4 things I always do while painting. The tips are as followed:

1) Dilute paint with water and a touch of glazing liquid to a syrupy like consistency

2) Allow each layer to dry before moving on to the next layer

3) Use a hair drier to dry paint in between layers

4) Build colors up before blending

Most painting I do have 8 - 12 layers of paint. The tips can be very helpful.

About Will:

My name is Will Thompson, I’m 21. Art has always been a huge part of my life. The fondest memories of being a kid were spent trying to be creative. I find myself so indulged in my work that I forget what is going on around me. I have such a thirst for creating art that everything else becomes unimportant to me. But it’s the end product that I long for, to sit back and see your creation, I don’t believe there to be a better feeling.

I studied Art and Design at The Bolitho School and then went on to study the National Diploma in Art and Design at Truro College in Cornwall. Now I live in London pursuing my dream of becoming a famous Artist studying at Central Saint Martins.

Please contacts me for any enquiries or potential work.

I accept commissions

Rest in Pride - Nelson Mandela

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Nelson Mandela No. 2

Description:

Another in a series of Pop Art Portraits I am creating in the neo-divisionist style. This method of painting allows for the application of color into a painting unrelated to the actual subject. It also takes a simple subject and allows for an energetic interpretation that goes far beyond the actual subject. Image (c)2014 by Randal Huiskens

About:

Laura has always had an interest in the arts at an early age, Laura was encouraged by her parents to pursue her passion, namely drawing and painting.

Growing up in a Christian home, she began to understand the blessings of living in a faith-filled environment, and recognized her ability to paint to be a gift from God.

She started drawing at the age of seven using a color pencil set her mother purchased as a gift. Since her udergraduate studies in Fine Art Laura has had opportunity to learn classic lessons during her Fine Arts studies.

As you look into the heart of each of Laura’s paintings and drawings you will began to understand her desire that the viewer not only see a captivating piece of art, but also, through it receive a message of hope, and a sense of God's love for all good things.

Paul Fraser Collectibles

In a lists known as the PFC40 Autograph Index, compiled before the death of Nelson Mandela by Paul Fraser Collectibles of Bristol, England, there were two people that were described as having the most valuable autograph of all living people.  Though Fidel Castro is described as the world's most valuable living signature (£3,500) further down the list it shows that by 2013 the autograph of Nelson Mandela equalled the value of the Cuban leaders signature.

Since those details were compiled the autograph of Nelson Mandela has sold for greater sums of money but often the value of the autograph is also due to the item that has been signed.

Description:

A towering figure of 20th Century history died  on Thursday,  December  5th., 2013.  Nelson Mandela was called the father of his country and the George Washington of South Africa. He led one of history's largest democratic revolutions from a prison cell. South Africa's transition to today's peace, prosperity and stability provides a stark contrast to the difficult recent histories of other African nations emerging from European colonial rule, like Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Somalia, Mali, the Sudan and many others. Very seldom has one man made such a difference. Above is a 2003 portrait of Nelson Mandela, one of several that I've done.
