About Collin:
I don't produce art that only concentrate on one subject. I am inspired by nature and the beautiful world around us, hence I am never without a sketch pad, painting tools or camera to capture life.
I did not set out to be an artist or to create these interesting pieces of work, my direction changed after being at university studying architecture and realised what my passion really was.
My work tends to focus on landscapes and portraits, my photography are focused on flowers and landscapes but you will find that I don't just enclose my work to one specific thing.
In school the only class I was really interested in was art. This was when I really felt alive.
Throughout growing up, my biggest inspirations were my parent's and to this very day when I visit they never fail to show my childhood drawings, they were the ones who saw what i could create at a very young age and started buying me materials to paint..
My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience, the repetitive nature of my art frees my imagination and provides opportunity to expand and be creative.

My visual journey mainly entails studio research in a quest to discover my own capabilities, strength and doubts by tapping into the magic of the subconscious.
Am always driven by one question, WHAT IF? I thrive on questions like what if I did this and that. What would be the outcome? It’s a joy in itself as one gets surprised by the process and reversal of known truths.
I believe expressing oneself creatively in whatever form isn't a straight line or shouldn't be limited by style, medium, rules and norms. In my view, creativity has no boundaries except those delimited by time and matter; one’s physical capacity for work in a quantifiable period of time-space. My desire has always been to create works that curiously blend in the fashion of the legendary double-edged sword: sophistication meeting naivety, chaos meeting order, beauty meeting ugliness, and aesthetics meeting free- expression and so on.
My art works has come to definitively embody my joy, frustration, inspiration and my perception into tangible objects. In short my life’s journey as an artist (if I deserve to be called so) has become a self portrait with symbols or forms that might echo that or otherwise.
Further more, my work seeks to explain and attempts to answer questions about methods and materials and the effects of texture on one’s perception.
The artworks include paintings, sculptures, woodcut prints, digital art and photography, furniture and mixed media installations. A wide range of materials I use include: wood, bark cloth, paper, filler paste, glues and raisins, oil, outdoor paints, fiber glass, banana fibers, sand, oxides, aluminum, zinc, bronze, sisal, recycled steel and cloth.

“Melle Mel's” Jazz-inspired & other popular themes of Commissioned Art & signed prints are in various Private Art Collections throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and several countries in West & South Africa. Once while working in the window of the store front, Mel was seen by a Concert Promoter. This promoter and Band members commissioned and presented his Artwork as a 1988-Birthday gift to (the late) Jazz Legend, Miles Davis. During this literal 'once-in-a-lifetime' meeting, Mel took this opportunity to discuss with Mr. Davis that he was not only an avid young Jazz fan, but also what he had been slowing developing with Artwork in conjunction with Live Jazz Bands and Miles' current & past recorded music. During this discussion Mr. Davis impressed upon him how he though his work was unique, also that he had recently begun to dabbled in some spontaneous Art sketches and made painting of his own which help put him at peace, and to further inspire his own Musical creative energy flow in composing and arranging Musical works for himself and his band members. 'Miles' said how much he liked the originality of Mel's idea and the potential of this innovative 'Jazz-Art-Fusion' endeavor he had begun. 'Miles' advised and encouraged Mel to strive forward to continue to further develop his new innovative Artistic idea into a more genuine level of an Art form. Thereby, “Melle Mel” became the originator of a progressively innovative Original Art creation style genre he dubbed, “LaJazArt™”, (Live~Audience~Jazz~Art) which is Original Artwork-in-progress being rhythmically created Live simultaneously on stage in synch with a Live Jam Session or Jazz Concert performance.
This eventually led to 'Melle Mel' creating 'LaJazArt™' on stage with such great International Jazz Headliners as Ms. Mercedes Ellington (Grand-daughter of the late Jazz Legend 'Duke' Ellington) 'Symphony & Swing'~Music & Dance Troupe, The World Famous~Count Basie Orchestra and the Top-10 National Jazz Recording Artist & Saxophonist: 'The Saxtress' Ms. Pamela Williams (Heads Up Productions-Red Ink-Shanachie Record Labels) Including all the finest Top Local Jazz Bands, Vocalists and Musicians @ Salvi's/Jazz-Flight~106.3 FM-WCKX Weekly Live Radio Broadcasts & Jazz-&-Eggs, Gene Walker's Generations Band, (the now late) Hank Marr, Jim Rupp, Jim Mantz, Bobby Floyd Trio, Mary McClendon, Earl Love, Jeanette Williams (Brewer), Jimmi Hammonds, Tommy Moore, Pharez Whitted (Motown~MoJazz Label), Jazz Patrol, by Special Request with 30-East Jazz Band @ Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.~4th-District Convention Founder's Banquet, Moxie~featuring Mary Daniels, Urban Jazz Coalition (currently #11 on the Smooth-Jazz Chart), The Governor~featuring Dolly,Vicki, Candi & Darcell, The Ken Weaver Trio & Nex Level @ Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.~Annual Jazz-Fusion, Michael T.
